Dr. Ryan Doherty

Ryan Doherty, Ph.D. is the founder & President of Empower Health (formerly known as iamsick.ca). Ryan is a strong proponent for open data, design thinking and forming partnerships to accelerate innovation and improve healthcare systems. His passion is working on projects that leverage data & technology to improve equitable access to healthcare, data-driven healthcare system redesign, and patient experience. Outside of health innovation and social entrepreneurship, Ryan completed his PhD in Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto & Structural Genomics Consortium, and performed HIV/AIDS bioinformatics research in South Africa and Belgium. Ryan is a former Junior Fellow of Massey College, where he co-chaired the Massey Grand Rounds.
